August 28, 2008
Dear Adjunct Faculty Colleagues,
As the newly elected president of NJCU’s AFT Local 1839, one of my goals is improving communications with adjunct faculty. That is the reason I am writing you today.
Through this letter I’m reaching out to all adjunct faculty who taught at NJCU between Fall 2007 and Summer 2, 2008, whether or not you are scheduled to teach this coming year. I certainly hope that the University did offer you a class(es) and that it does run. But, even if that is not the case, the local would like to stay in touch with you. Therefore, we are seeking the best means of reaching you this academic year.
The survey form requests your contact information. You can respond in paper format or submit the survey electronically. We promise your responses will not be shared with anyone outside the union or the university.
You may already know that NJCU provides current adjunct faculty members with their own “njcu.edu” e-mail addresses, and that our union maintains a listserv for all members. The information you provide us will help update that listserv. The survey will also help us communicate with those who prefer paper correspondence.
Please be assured that I will not inundate you with correspondence. Instead, I will only send information that I believe you need and/or can use. Mostly, I will communicate through our webpage or, when requested, on paper.
Whenever Local 1839 can be of any service to you, please call the office, which recently moved to Rossey Hall, Room 115, or contact me directly.
Please respond to the survey.
Best wishes for a great academic year.
Sincerely,
Joseph H. Moskowitz, Ph.D.
President
